Kāpiti Mountain Bike Club
The Kāpiti Mountain Bike Club was established by keen mountain bikers to develop riding opportunties at Whareroa Farm and the wider Kāpiti region. As well as building trails the Club is actively advocating on behalf of the local cycling community to grow our regional trail network. We welcome everyone to join us on our journey.

Where to ride
Farm Tracks
Kāpiti Mountain Bike Club is developing trails at Whareroa Farm off State Highway 1 by Mackays Crossing. This is a DOC managed area utilised by walkers, runners, horse-riders and mountain bikers.
There is car parking provided just off the main highway, and the club has recently completed a bike wash so that gear can be cleaned after a ride.
From the car park follow the signs to the Hub where all the various tracks start and end.
Link Track is a 3.2km easy grade climbing track from the Hub to Campbells Mill Road. It begins just on from the Hub through the Gum trees and on to the Carex Valley, cross the stream and begin climbing through the two catchments to reach the Five Ways rest area. Continue on to Red Tape, Campbells Mill Road, and Bath Tub
Red Tape is our first built track and mainly sidles from the top of the Farm down to the Hub. It is a 2.3km intermediate grade track which begins in the established native vegetation just past the rest area by Five Ways Track. It starts with a narrow rocky section before descending past the exit from Bath Tub and the old WWII Settlement Race to the Hub.
Bath Tub is 1.4km intermediate grade track that is accessed off Campbells Mill Road - turn right at the end of Link Track. The narrow nature of the ridge means many switch backs, some tight, but this track has been built for fun with many chances to get air or roll the bumps.
Five Ways is a 1.2km easy grade track that provides a quick link to the picnic area just before Red Tape. This is a grassy two-way track and is a good beginner option for getting down the hill and back to the Hub.

Other Tracks
Outside of Whareroa Farm there is a wider network of easy cycle paths running from Paekākāriki to Otaki. These include a number of tracks in Queen Elizabeth Park directly across the motorway from the Farm.

Our latest project is to build a family-friendly beginner track. This track will start lower down the link track and will provide an opportunity for beginners and families to get into mountain biking.Building tracks is an expensive undertaking and every donation — big or small — will help us cross the finish line. Plus, your gift is tax-deductible.Be part of making this happen for every rider. Donate today, and next time you hit the trails, you could be rinsing off your bike with a smile.

Kāpiti Mountain Bike Club was established by a small group of volunteers keen to develop the trails and facilities at Whareroa Farm. However there is a limit to what a small group can achieve so we're keen to grow our membership. By joining the club your modest subscription helps to fund trail development as well as facilities such as the bike wash.Increased membership also adds strength to our voice when advocating for wider trail access.Annual membership are individual or family and renew on the anniversary date.

Mountain bike trails don't maintain themselves, so the club runs a monthly Dig Day on the third Sunday of each month. These events are notified on our Facebook page so follow us there and keep an eye out for opportunities to make a difference.
